INTRODUCTION

 Good morning to everybody,

Today, I decided to offer you a completely new blog about a museum of the region, which had recently opened its doors: the Louvre-Lens. It seemed like a good idea, since I have visited it during the Christmas holidays.

To introduce the topic, it seemed interesting to give you an English report, with an outside point of view of the project. It permits us to have a first regard that foreigners have on this museum.
Because of his little laugh, it is understandable that the journalist is still skeptical about the presence of such a museum in the city of Lens, but by visiting the building, he apparently quickly falls in love with the Louvre-Lens.
Nevertheless, this project has made a lot of ink to flow and it doesn’t look like it is going to stop. Indeed, the Museum has experienced many difficulties: first, from a financial point of view, the architectural project is too expensive. Then, It was difficult to explain the choice of an establishment of such a museum in the middle of slag heaps. Finally, the scenography of the permanent exhibition could be confusing for many people.

We can ask ourselves this question : is this a contemporary museum ?

In order to better understand the issues of the Louvre-Lens, it seems important to know the reflexion behind the establishment of this Museum in the city of Lens. Of course, we will focus on the architecture of the building, which is full of symbols and meanings. Of course, we won’t forget to explain the so particular scenography of the exhibition.
